Ascending Pets

Taylor Vance,

owner Ascending Pets

Most people only learn how pet cremation works when they’re already grieving. It’s an industry that, for decades, has operated quietly in the background, designed around efficiency for clinics rather than care for families. Taylor Vance noticed that gap and couldn’t ignore it.

Ascending Pets was built with a simple but powerful idea: what if this experience was designed for pet owners first? Clear communication. Real human support. Time to slow down. Beautiful keepsakes that actually reflect the life being honored. The goal wasn’t to reinvent grief, but to make a painful day just a little more gentle.

That philosophy shows up in how far Taylor and the Ascending Pets team are willing to go. Driving across the state to help a college student hold onto the last living connection to his brother. Turning around a family’s companion’s ashes within 24 hours so travelers could continue their journey home. Standing with families who lost multiple pets in a matter of weeks. Playing custom music during cremation. Planning funerals while owners were out of the country. Showing up, again and again, when people don’t know what to do next.

The work is heavy, often late at night, sometimes physically demanding, always emotional. And yet, Taylor will tell you that somewhere along the way, he fell in love with it. With being the person who answers the call. With helping move a 150 pound dog with care and dignity. With crafting keepsakes that stay close to someone’s heart long after the loss.

Ascending Pets is still early in its journey, but it already reflects something Durable believes deeply. That meaningful businesses are built by people willing to do the hard, unglamorous work with integrity and care. We’re proud to count Ascending Pets as part of Utah’s Business Commons and grateful for the compassion they bring to families across the state.
