MT Consulting

Monica Thornburg, owner MT Consulting, Trad Construction, Actsyl

Some business stories start with a plan. Monica Thornburg’s started with a conviction: work should lift people up. Long before she acquired companies or guided employers through complex benefits decisions, she built her career on a simple question — how do we help people access care they need without making businesses choose between compassion and cost?

That question led her into the world of no-net-cost supplemental health plans, a space most owners don’t know exists. Monica turned it into her mission and created MT Consulting. She now helps companies enroll in Section 125 programs that simultaneously lower taxes, increase take-home pay, and make healthcare accessible to employees who often go without. Triple value. Zero out-of-pocket. And a very human outcome at the center.

But 2024 didn’t stop at benefits. In true Monica fashion — guided by God, grit, and grace — she stepped into ownership, acquiring two businesses: Trad Construction and Actsyl. It was bold, fast, and fully aligned with her belief that momentum favors those who move. Business ownership didn’t slow her down; it sharpened her vision.

Spend five minutes with Monica and you’ll hear the philosophies that move her: ambition unapologetically pursued, boldness rewarded, and the quiet resilience behind her favorite reminder — keep going. She’s building a career that crosses industries but stays anchored in people, purpose, and possibility.

We’re lucky to have Monica as a member of Durable. She brings energy that elevates a room and a perspective that strengthens Utah’s business landscape. In a community built for owners who don’t want to build alone, her journey is a reminder of what’s possible when you bet on yourself and keep climbing.
