When Mike Metzger started Lifepoint Design, he wasn’t chasing a trend or a tidy business plan. He was running from something that didn’t sit right. Corporate investment management felt hollow. Constraining. Misaligned with how he believed people should be served. At one point, he told himself he’d rather live under a bridge than stay in a system he didn’t believe in. That conviction, mixed with real fear, became the foundation of Lifepoint.
In 2018, Mike made a bet that most people advised against. He went fee-only, focused on real-time tax strategy and wealth planning for millennial business owners, without leaning on investment or portfolio management as the centerpiece. At the time, it sounded impractical, even risky. But Mike saw a gap. Business owners didn’t need more products. They needed clarity.
What followed wasn’t a straight line. Lifepoint has been built, torn down, and rebuilt at least ten times. Each iteration taught the same lesson: complexity rarely adds value. Over time, the firm became intentionally simple and deeply strategic, designed to help founders understand where they stand and what actually matters next.
Today, Lifepoint Design exists not in spite of those early decisions, but because of them. It’s a reflection of Mike’s willingness to trust his instincts, refine relentlessly, and stay grounded in the work, even as new ideas continue to shape what’s next.
Mike’s belief in community runs parallel to how he’s built his business. Entrepreneurship can be isolating. Most founders don’t know what they don’t know until it’s too late. Lifepoint was built on the idea that honest conversations and shared experience can change outcomes. That same belief is why we’re grateful to have Mike as part of Durable.
